Essential documents for your Malta marriage registration. All documents must be original, and those not in English or Maltese require an official translation. Documents from non-EU countries may need an Apostille.

Required
Original passports must be presented during the in-person meeting in Malta a few days before your ceremony. Photocopies are sufficient for the initial application.
A valid passport is mandatory for both parties.
Birth Certificate
Required
An original birth certificate for each party showing the full names of both parents. This is required to verify age and identity.
Original, long-form version required.
Single Status/CNI
Required
An official Certificate of No Impediment (CNI) from your home country, or a sworn Third-Party Affidavit if a CNI is not available. This document proves you are legally free to marry.
Valid for only 3 months.
Witnesses
Required
You will need to complete the 'Request for the Publication of Banns' (Form RZ1) and two individual 'Declaration on Oath' forms (Form RZ2), signed before a solicitor or notary.
These must be completed and legally witnessed.
Divorce/Death Certificate
If Applicable
The original final divorce decree (decree absolute) or the death certificate of the former spouse must be provided if applicable.
Required only if you have been married before.

Two witnesses over the age of 18 are required to be present at the ceremony. We can provide these for you.
